This is an updated version of the Kilowatt DirectX Exporter for 3ds Max originally developed by Jon Watte. Why this new version? Well, development on the Panda exporter and the original Kilowatt exporter have seemingly stopped, they haven’ t been updated since 2011. Those of us using game engines that require X files still need a way to get our model data out of newer versions of 3ds Max.
Since the source code is available for the original Kilowatt exporter, I’ve made a few additions of my own to make it compatible with a wider variety of game engines. Specifically, I’ve added an option to disable “ticks” to control the timing of animations. Some game engines prefer to directly control the timing of animations, so this option can now be toggled via the “Use 3dsMax Ticks” checkbox. See my guide below for exporting models to FPS Creator and Dark Basic Professional.
